Agda owns a Motorola E2 mobile phone which is capable of receiving m-learning materials through a Bluetooth connection available in the classrooms.
She had to install install a special Java application (she only had to do this once). Now, before she leaves the classroom, she launches the application, activates the "Update" option and her phone downloads the rehearsal material. It's completly free. (see the technical background)

Agda spends about an hour in buses every day. She spends that time learning vocabulary and doing grammar exercises - and she doesn't have to carry her books or notes.

Johan has a Nokia 6100. It is not capable of using Bluetooth or receiving Blue SMS messages.
To use the rehearsal tool, Johan needs to visit a wap.proskola.se Web site on his phone, log in and download a Java application that has been created for him. He needs to cover the GPRS connection cost.

Johan likes to use these tools because of the interactivity they offer. The phones acts as a private tutor by asking questions and checking the answers. Johan likes this form of rehearsal more than staring at the pages of books or notebooks.

Ingrid has a Samsung E310 mobile phone. It is not capable of downloading data through Bluetooth, but can receive Blue SMS Messages.
When Ingrid started her course, she installed a rehearsal application on her phone. She has sent a premium SMS message (to cover the cost of Blue SMS messages she will receive throught the course). Now, after each lesson she receives a special text message, "Blue SMS Message" which automatically launches the installed Java application and updates the rehearsal material.

Ingrid prefers traditional learning methods - textbooks and exercise books. She uses the m-learning tools to test her vocabulary and make sure that she did not miss anything when rehearsing from her notes.
